CHENIN SÉMILLON

Swartland Chenin Blanc & Stellenbosch Sémillon blend — stone fruit, honeybush & lime with mineral structure.

About This Wine

Our white wine is a blend of Swartland Chenin Blanc and Stellenbosch Sémillon—a serious wine that tips its hat to complex, structured blends that we admire. These wines are what we love to drink, but they are also, at their heart, unusual. We invite you to venture off the beaten track, just as we have. Blend: Chenin Blanc 56% (Swartland), Sémillon 44% (Stellenbosch). WO: Coastal Region. Viticulture: The Chenin Blanc bush vines are grown in pure granite soil behind Paardeberg mountain. Everything in this vineyard is done by hand, ensuring the health of this old vineyard for future generations. The Sémillon is from the Bottelary Hills, grown in weathered granite topsoil and crumbly clay sub-soil. Canopy management and pruning also takes place by hand. Winemaking: Grapes were handpicked in small lug boxes. After the grapes cooled overnight, they were whole bunch pressed and only the free run juice was naturally fermented in 2nd, 3rd and 4th fill French oak barrels. The wine spent 9 months on the lees. Bottled unfiltered. Tasting Notes: Enticing stone fruit, honeybush and lime on the nose. The palate is reminiscent of honeyed peaches, fresh pineapple and a lingering lemon-lime finish. The structured and mineral mouthfeel is well balanced with racy acidity and layers of fruit. Analysis: Alcohol: 13.31%, Residual Sugar: 2.8g/L, Total Acidity: 5.8g/L, pH: 3.25.
